Structured
Cabling

We provide resilient connections to help businesses grow

Complete Connectivity

The backbone of any modern business space, structured cabling provides reliable and secure connections between computers, phones, printers and other electronic devices to facilitate communication between them.

Flexible and scalable the systems make optimal use of space and can easily accommodate changes in technology over time. Offering greater Return-On-Investment (ROI) than traditional point-to-point wiring methods, structured cabling systems allow for increased scalability as and when your business needs to expand.

Each structured cabling design is different, where its unique properties depend on architectural structure, the type of cable used (copper or fibre), the function of the installation and of course, customer requirements.

Structured
Cabling Explained

Unlike traditional point-to-point cabling that connects devices directly to one another, a structured cabling system uses a Main Distribution Area (MDA) that all connections run from. This forms the central point of distribution. The cables connect to patch panels, which in turn connect to varying components such as switchers, routers, firewalls etc.

The Benefits of Structured Cabling

Structured cabling offers enhanced flexibility and requires significantly less maintenance than point-to-point alternatives.

01

Improved Data Transfer Speeds

Structured cabling provides faster data transfer speeds than traditional wiring systems. Access files and applications more quickly and avoid slow loading times

02

Added Security

Increased ability to protect against hackers and cyber attacks

03

Maximum Uptime

System availability is increased due to reduced installation and maintenance times that allow for more efficient upgrades

04

Increased Scalability

Modular design allows for scalability. Additional patch panels can be added at any point to create new connections that will support network growth

05

Reduced Technology Footprint

Smaller cables reduce overall cable mess and bulk

06

Decreased risk of blocked airflow and crushed cables

Excessive temperatures created by tangled point-to-point cables has a negligible effect on electronic components, drastically affecting the lifespan of products

07

Reduced system operating expenses

Heating, cooling and energy costs are lower with structured cabling

08

Reduced Electromagnetic Interference

Reduced noise disruption on phones and computers caused via interference with other electronic equipment

09

Increased ROI

Capable of supporting multiple generations of hardware

How Can TPS Support My
Structured Cabling Installation?

TPS design and install structured cabling systems for both new build and existing premises that guarantee optimal performance and reliability. Our experienced team have worked on a diverse range and scale of projects across a variety of sectors, including corporate workspaces, retail, education, hospitality, data centres, residential, critical environments, distribution and logistics. We will take into account the size and layout of the space available together with any future expansion plans, advise on budget and the proposed timeline for all works. All aspects of the project will be carried out by our in-house team of skilled engineers ensuring you complete peace of mind at each stage of the project.

Types of Cables Used

We use a combination of Category 5e (CAT5e) and Category 6 (CAT6) cables, which are capable of providing high-speed data transmission rates up to 10 Gbps for CAT5e and 40 Gbps for CAT6.

Installations

All our installations are carried out in accordance with ISO 11801 (ISO/IEC 11801) and EN50173 specifications.
